Russia announced on Friday that it intends to close the country on Instagram following reports that Meta, a parent company known as Facebook, will temporarily allow users in some countries to speak openly about violence against President Vladimir Putin and Russian troops.
To fill the void left in the country by Instagram, Russian tech entrepreneurs have announced the launch of Rossgram, an alternative platform. Aside from the name, Rossgram’s design and layout are very similar to Meta’s photo-sharing app.
